It presents all the major phases of medieval art, from the Romano-Gothic period to the Renaissance. It is also the only example in Châlons of the rich ornamentation of the Renaissance. In the 19th century, the merchant district of the city center included a chapel dedicated to Saint Andrew. Around 1160-1170, it was decided to transform it into a parish church dedicated to Saint Alpin, bishop of Châlons. From that time, the nave and the central part of the portal remain. At the end of the Middle Ages, the rich merchants of the parish built a bell tower and an ambulatory choir pierced with large windows adorned with splendid colorful canopies. In the 16th century, a series of chapels were added along the entire length of the south aisle which still preserve today a remarkable set of stained glass windows in grisaille (without the use of colored glass).
