This workshop allows participants to learn about African art, a rich and varied art, which reflects the cultural and historical diversity of the African continent. Participants are accompanied by visual artist Jérémie Marié, who will guide them in the use of cutting templates and in the composition of masks from simple and colorful materials, such as paper, wool, feathers, beads, etc. Each participant will be able to express their creativity and personality by creating a unique and personalized mask. The African mask making workshop is an opportunity to discover the heritage of the museum, which has a magnificent collection of African art, which brings together a wide variety of masks, statues, jewelry and other works of art. The Museum of Modern Art was created in 1976 with the donation of almost 2,000 works by Pierre and Denise Lévy, a Trojan industrial couple and collectors. The painter André Derain and the Trojan glassmaker Maurice Marinot, close friends of the Lévys, are well represented here, alongside such great modern artists as Courbet, Braque, Gris, Soutine, Modigliani, Dufresne, La Fresnaye, Buffet, Balthus and De Staël.
