From September 7, 2025, to February 13, 2026, the Museum of the Terroir returns to the border history in our countryside at the beginning of the 20th century.
Even if the Belgian border does not pass through Villeneuve d'Ascq, Ascq is 7 km from the Belgian border and has long hosted a customs barracks.
The Musée du Terroir therefore dedicates its new temporary exhibition to customs officers and fraudsters who have long surveyed our countryside.
Discover the ingenuity of fraudsters as well as customs officers' methods to catch them.
With objects from the collections of the Museum of the Terroir, the Museum of Border Life of Godewaersvelde and the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions of Wattrelos.
Monday to Friday from 1:30 PM to 5 PM
The first Sunday of the month and public holidays from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Included in the museum entrance ticket.
Free on the first Sunday of the month and at Heritage Days.

Du 7 septembre 2025 au 13 février 2026, le Musée du Terroir revient sur l'histoire frontalière dans nos campagnes au début du 20ème siècle.
Même si la frontière belge ne passe pas à Villeneuve d’Ascq, Ascq est à 7 km de la frontière belge et a longtemps accueilli une caserne des Douanes.
Le Musée du Terroir consacre donc sa nouvelle exposition temporaire aux douaniers et aux fraudeurs qui ont longtemps arpenté nos campagnes.
Découvrez l’ingéniosité des fraudeurs ainsi que les méthodes des douaniers pour les contre carrer.
Avec des objets issus des collections du Musée du Terroir, du Musée de la Vie Frontalière de Godewaersvelde et du Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires de Wattrelos.
Du lundi au vendredi de 13h30 à 17h
Le 1er dimanche du mois et les jours fériés de 14h30 à 17h30.
Compris dans le billet d’entrée du musée.
Gratuit le 1er dimanche du mois et aux Journées du Patrimoine.

Van 7 september 2025 tot 13 februari 2026 keert het Musée du Terroir terug naar de grensgeschiedenis op ons platteland aan het begin van de 20e eeuw.
Hoewel de Belgische grens Villeneuve d'Ascq niet oversteekt, ligt Ascq op 7 km van de Belgische grens en is er al lang een douanebarak.
Het Musée du Terroir wijdt de nieuwe tijdelijke tentoonstelling daarom aan douanebeambten en fraudeurs die ons platteland al lang hebben onderzocht.
Ontdek de vindingrijkheid van fraudeurs en de methoden van douanebeambten voor de tegenhangers van de carrer.
Met objecten uit de collecties van het Museum van Terroir, het Museum van het grensverleggend leven Godewaersvelde en het Museum van populaire Kunsten en tradities van Wattrelos.
Maandag t/m vrijdag van 1,30 tot 17 uur
De 1e zondag van de maand en feestdagen van 30 tot 17.30 uur.
