Postponed: Commemoration of the 110 years of the Battle of Verdun

On 29 September, at the Place de Verdun, the city is organizing a commemorative morning that will bring together veterans and Jacqueline Duhem, historian and member of the Historical Society of Villeneuve d'Ascq.
Programme
At 9 a.m., the commemoration will begin in Place de Verdun with, among other things, the installation of a hairy silhouette, the reading of the names of the Villeneuvois who fell during the fighting, and the unveiling of a fresco created by the artists' collective, a speech and a wreath-laying by the Mayor as well as a blueberry deposit by CM1/CM2 students.
Around 9:45 a.m., the procession will move to the Maison des Genêts where, at 10 a.m., many activities will be offered until the end of the morning:
- an exhibition of models and period objects
- one is the ONAC exhibition "The Great War",
- a flag stand,
- an immersive room by the association Terres du Nord Terre de Combats recreating the soundscape of the trenches thanks to a sound system and stroboscopes.
- Workshops will also be set up to make a souvenir badge and chocolate sardines, run by the Maison des Genêts (canned sardines referring to soldiers' meals).

Le 29 septembre, place de Verdun, la Ville organise une matinée commémorative qui associera les anciens combattants et Jacqueline Duhem, historienne et membre de la Société Historique de Villeneuve d’Ascq.
Programme
À 9h, la commémoration débutera place de Verdun avec notamment l’installation d'une silhouette de poilu, la lecture des noms des Villeneuvois tombés lors des combats, le dévoilement d'une fresque réalisée par le collectif d'artistes, un discours et un dépôt de gerbe par Monsieur le Maire ainsi qu’un dépôt de bleuets par des élèves de CM1/CM2.
Vers 9h45, le cortège se déplacera vers la Maison des Genêts où, à 10h, de nombreuses animations seront proposées jusqu’en fin de matinée :
- une exposition de maquettes et objets d'époque
- une l'exposition de l'ONAC « La Grande Guerre »,
- un stand porte-drapeaux,
- une salle immersive par l’association Terres du Nord Terre de Combats recréant l’ambiance sonore des tranchées grâce à un dispositif de sonorisation et de stroboscopes.
- Seront également mis en place des ateliers de confection d’un badge souvenir et de sardines en chocolat tenus par la Maison des Genêts (les conserves de sardines faisant référence aux repas des soldats).

Op 29 september organiseert de stad op Place de Verdun een herdenkingsochtend waarin veteranen en Jacqueline Duhem, historicus en lid van de Société historique de Villeneuve d'Ascq, samenkomen.
Programma
Om 9 uur begint de herdenking op plaats de Verdun met in het bijzonder de installatie van een harig silhouet, het voorlezen van de namen van de Villeneuvois gevallen tijdens de gevechten, de onthulling van een fresco gemaakt door het collectief van kunstenaars, Een toespraak en een krans storting door de burgemeester en een bosbessenstorting door studenten van CM1 / CM2.
Rond 9:45 uur, zal de processie verhuizen naar het Maison des Genets waar, om 10:00 uur, vele activiteiten worden aangeboden tot het einde van de ochtend:
- een tentoonstelling van modellen en periode-objecten
- Een tentoonstelling van ONAC "de grote Oorlog",
- een vlaggenstandaard,
- Een meeslepende kamer van de vereniging Terres du Nord Terre de Combats die de geluidssfeer van de loopgraven hercreëert dankzij een geluidssysteem en stroboscopen.
- Er zullen ook workshops worden georganiseerd voor het maken van een souvenirbadge en chocoladesardines van het Maison des Genets (sardines in blik die verwijzen naar maaltijden van soldaten).
