The exhibition, now in its second edition, is curated by the associations "Dendrobium & Fuukiran" and "A.T.A.B.S. - Associazione Toscana Amatori Bonsai e Suiseki" with the support of the technical staff of the University of Florence University Museum System. The theme of the exhibition is linked to the cultivation of plants emblematic of the Japanese tradition, in particular bonsai and orchids cultivated according to the techniques of the Japanese Edo period. In addition to the exposure of the plants will be proposed moments of deepening and laboratories (pruning, aesthetics, cultivation, repotting, etc.) and presentations/ demonstrations. About 50 Japanese bonsai and orchid species are expected. The exhibition will end with a small award ceremony of the best orchid, through internet connection with the president of the Japanese association Fuukiran of Yamaguchi Prefecture.

Spread over an area of just over 2 hectares, the Botanical Garden hosts over 5,000 specimens including plants of ancient origin such as the Cicadee and trees over 100 years old including the Tasso planted by Pier Antonio Micheli, illustrious botanist and mycologist and director of the Botanical Garden during the eighteenth century.
There are typical specimens of the Mediterranean flora and tropical areas, educational collections of carnivorous plants and a historic collection of medicinal plants, including some toxic species. Of great relevance is the collection of food plants that includes both spontaneous plants of food interest and vegetables grown in educational gardens made according to principles of organic-regenerative agriculture. Remarkable for its extension (approx. 1,700m²) and its cubature is the complex of large nineteenth-century greenhouses that follow one another along Via Micheli for a front of 162 meters.
