Plaine Commune and Les Cultiveuses take you to the (re)discovery of La Maladrerie, a vast star-studded district, straight out of the imagination of Renée Gailhoustet.
This visit will be an opportunity to explore one of the most remarkable social housing complexes in the Paris region. Designed as a true "neighborhood-city", this set of nearly 900 housing, labeled Heritage of the 20th century, allows to approach the major architectural and urban planning projects of the 1970s and 1980s, in Plaine Commune and elsewhere.
Thanks to the participation of Jardins on all floors and CAPA, several places usually closed to the public will exceptionally open their doors, including an artist’s studio and the neighborhood activity center. The visit will also be an opportunity to discover other achievements of Renée Gailhoustet and better understand the innovative approach of this major figure in social housing architecture.
To fully understand La Maladrerie, it will also be necessary to go back through history: the industrialization of Seine-Saint-Denis, the post-war reconstruction and the major urban transformations that shaped the territory.
An immersion between architecture, heritage and urban history, in the heart of an emblematic district of Aubervilliers.
