Passionate musician, talented multi-instrumentalist, Pascal Auberson has been exploring numerous artistic forms for 40 years, from song to free jazz, through theater, contemporary dance and film music. Today, he performs alongside saxophonist César Decker, his son, on the piano.
César Decker chose the saxophone as his instrument at the age of 13. After classical training at the Vevey conservatory with Antoine Auberson, his uncle, then at the EJMA in Lausanne, he played as a “sideman” in a number of groups. In New York, he auditioned at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and received an excellence prize which allowed him to undertake high-level training.
From Father to Son, the initial volatile title, logically became So Suites, according to the progress of the writing, the shaping of themes resurfaced from the treasures which never completely sleep in the song stores of Pascal Auberson or the ideas and desires for new notes from father and son. In March 2024, before a concert at the Benno Besson Theater in Yverdon-les-Bains, the idea emerged of inviting trumpeter Matthieu Michel, who also performed during this evening. The three musicians loved working together and decided to perpetuate this collaboration by integrating Matthieu during this new concert in Plan-les-Ouates.
Matthieu Michel learned to play the trumpet from Americo Bellotto in Vienna and Berlin. In 1992, he joined the Vienna Art Orchestra conducted by Mathias Rüegg. He has to his credit various collaborations and numerous records in different groups with Swiss and international musicians. In 2022 he received the European Musician Prize from the Jazz Academy.

Musicien passionné, multi-instrumentiste talentueux, Pascal Auberson explore depuis 40 ans de nombreuses formes artistiques, de la chanson au free jazz, en passant par le théâtre, la danse contemporaine et la musique de film. Aujourd’hui, c’est aux côtés du saxophoniste César Decker, son fils, qu’il se produit au piano.
César Decker choisit le saxophone comme instrument à l’âge de 13 ans. Après une formation classique au conservatoire de Vevey avec Antoine Auberson, son oncle, puis à l’EJMA de Lausanne, il joue comme « sideman » dans bon nombre de groupes. À New-York, il auditionne à la New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music et reçoit un prix d’excellence qui lui permet d’entreprendre une formation de haut niveau.
De Père en Fils, titre volatile initial, est devenu logiquement Ainsi de Suites, au gré du déroulement de l’écriture, de la mise en forme de thèmes ressurgis des trésors qui ne dorment jamais complètement dans les soutes à chansons de Pascal Auberson ou des idées et envies de notes nouvelles du père et du fils. En mars 2024, avant un concert au Théâtre Benno Besson d’Yverdon-les-Bains, émerge l’idée d’inviter le trompettiste Matthieu Michel, qui se produit aussi lors de cette soirée. Les trois musiciens ont adoré travailler ensemble et décident de pérenniser cette collaboration en intégrant Matthieu lors de ce nouveau concert à Plan-les-Ouates.
Matthieu Michel a appris à jouer de la trompette auprès d’Americo Bellotto à Vienne et à Berlin. Dès 1992, il intègre le Vienna Art Orchestra dirigé par Mathias Rüegg. Il a à son actif diverses collaborations et de nombreux disques dans différentes formations avec des musiciens suisses et internationaux. En 2022 il reçoit le Prix du musicien européen de l’Académie du jazz.
