Teens Sunday Film: Memories

Cycle of films around the exhibition "Memories. Geneva in the colonial world" in collaboration with the Cinéma d'Afrique festival. Temporary exhibition. Sunday 12 May from 11am to 12pm.

MEG is joining forces with the Festival cinémas d'Afrique Lausanne (FCAL), which will be held in Lausanne from 15 to 18 August 2024.

As part of the temporary exhibition "Memories. Genève dans le monde colonial" temporary exhibition, a series of films for adults, children and teenagers will be shown between May and December, offering a different approach to the themes addressed by the exhibition.

Part of the programme has been co-constructed with the FCAL, which is sharing a few cinematic nuggets for the occasion.

  • Rezilians, by Ashley Tatoo, Mauritius, animation, 2021, 4 mins.

In thickly drawn graphics, a little boy tells his mother about his visit to the museum. Learning from his past to write his future.

After witnessing the rapid advance of the desert in his village, Yakuba decides to give up everything to fight against this arid land, using a rather special technique of his own.

  • A place for myself, by Marie Clémentine Dusabejambo, Rwanda, fiction, 2016, 20mn, VOstFR.

The story of a 5-year-old albino girl who is discriminated against by her classmates, and whose mother struggles to find a place for her...

  • Kipou, by Abdoulaye Sow, Senegal, fiction, 2021, 16mn, VOstFR.

Kipou is 11-year-old Aïssatou's only friend. He's also a kitten who keeps her company while she sells products for her mother outside a school. One day, she meets Habi and offers him a deal.

From age 10.
