‘Black ID’ is an installation comprising a series of portable sculptures associated with Swiss and Rwandan folklore. The artist explores the themes of identity and cultural reappropriation. Through the misappropriation of objects and their association, Brutus Labiche attempts to put forward an interpretation of Afro-Swiss experiences.
Brutus Labiche, born in Butare, Rwanda in 1993, is a self-taught artist. After working as a model, art director and fashion designer, she turned her attention to visual art. Her work explores the experience of black women through a variety of media, seeking to express profound and nuanced realities.

The Centre Culturel Afropea (CCA) is an itinerant organisation that operates in the interstices of institutions, contributing to an Afro-diasporic perspective by programming interventions by artists, researchers and performers.
As part of its ‘carte blanche’ at MEG, the CCA is organising three events: a performance by artist Brutus Labiche on Sunday 20 October 2024, open to questions from the public and in dialogue with the MEG collections; two film screenings and a conversation with curator Greg de Cuir Jr on 10 November 2024 around the film ‘Les statues meurent aussi’ (Resnais, Marker); and, finally, a lecture by Trinity Mesimé Njume-Ebong and a Gilles Furtwängler performance questioning coloniality and whiteness on Saturday 7 December 2024.

« Black ID » est une installation composée d’une série de sculptures portables associées au folklore suisse et rwandais. L’artiste explore les thèmes de l’identité et de la réappropriation culturelle. À travers le détournement d’objets et leur association, Brutus Labiche tente de mettre en avant une interprétation des expériences afro-suisses.
Brutus Labiche, née à Butare, Rwanda en 1993, est une artiste autodidacte. Après avoir travaillée comme modèle et directrice artistique, et styliste elle se consacre à l'art plastique. Son travail explore l'expérience de la femme noire à travers divers médiums, cherchant à exprimer des réalités profondes et nuancées.

Le Centre Culturel Afropea (CCA) est une organisation itinérante qui s’inscrit dans les interstices des institutions, contribuant à une perspective afro-diasporique par la programmation d'interventions d’artistes, chercheur-euse-s, performeur-euses.
Dans le cadre de sa carte blanche au MEG, le CCA propose trois temps de rencontre : une performance de l’artiste Brutus Labiche le dimanche 20 octobre 2024 ouverte aux questions du public et en dialogue avec les collections du MEG, deux projections de films et une conversation avec le curateur Greg de Cuir Jr le 10 novembre 2024 autour du film "Les statues meurent aussi" (Resnais, Marker) et, enfin, une conférence de Trinity Mesimé Njume-Ebong et une performance Gilles Furtwängler interrogeant colonialité et blanchité en date du samedi 7 décembre 2024.
