The MEG is partnering with the Grand Théâtre de Genève to host three Apéropéras.
Apéropéra
A slice of life, a slice of laughter, a slice of music: this is the sofa that will accompany our urban aperitif. Come and sip your vermouth or spritz in the company of some funny characters. It's an opportunity to (re)discover a composer, a work or a theme from a fresh and contemporary angle, far removed from the usual recitation of historical dates. A format rich in anecdotes from yesterday and, above all, today. It's also an opportunity to hear performers in a repertoire similar to the production!
Musical programme:
Musicians Alex Rœsr Vatiché and Ben Meerwein take us on a journey through Bulgaria in search of the sounds and songs that will accompany Marcos Morau’s new work. As a prelude, Madeleine Leclair, curator of the MEG’s ethnomusicology department, will introduce us to part of the rich collection of vinyl records held in the MEG’s sound archives.
Artists:
- Alex Rœsr Vatiché (Alex Röser) is a freelance composer, music producer and studio musician from Leipzig, Germany. Since his student days, he has been composing music for theatre productions and films and has produced several albums for international music projects. As a studio musician, he has toured with various bands across Europe and the United States. To date, his work has taken him to venues including the Residenztheater in Munich, Iceland Airwaves, the Moulin Rouge in Paris, the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and the Broke L.A. Festival in Los Angeles.
Ben Meerwein is a composer, sound- and performance artist from Berlin. His works deal with performative approaches and sonic spatiality with different systems. Musically fluctuating between experimental electronic and classical music, noise and avant-garde pop. Benefiting from his classical training in composition, piano and electroacoustic music at hmt Leipzig and mdw Vienna.Through a variety of collaborations, he has been able to gain experience in a wide range of disciplines.He has written music and sound design for film, theatre, installations, performances and concerts, as well as created own performances and musical concepts.
Madeleine Leclair has been working for over thirty years to promote musical and sound heritage in ethnographic museums. She is curator of the Department of Ethnomusicology at the Geneva Museum of Ethnography (MEG), where she is also in charge of the International Archives of Popular Music. Since 2021, she has been developing an artistic practice that involves bringing the vinyl record collections of the ‘Tout-Monde’ to life, which she incorporates into live sound-editing performances.

Le MEG s’associe au Grand Théâtre de Genève pour accueillir trois Apéropéras durant l'année 2026.
Apéropéra
Une tranche de vie, une tranche de rire, une tranche de musique : voici le canapé qui accompagnera notre apéro urbain. Venez siroter votre vermouth ou spritz en compagnie de drôles de personnages. L’occasion de (re)découvrir un compositeur, une œuvre, une thématique sous un angle frais et contemporain loin de l’énumération des dates historiques. Un format riche en anecdotes d’hier et surtout d’aujourd’hui. L’occasion en plus d’entendre des interprètes, dans un répertoire cousin de la production !
Proposition musicale :
Les musiciens Alex Rœsr Vatiché et Ben Meerwein nous emmènent sur les routes de Bulgarie à la recherche des sons et des chants qui accompagneront la création de Marcos Morau. En prélude, Madeleine Leclair, conservatrice du département d’ethnomusicologie du MEG nous fera découvrir une partie de la riche collection de vinyles conservés dans les archives sonores du MEG.
Artistes :
- Alex Rœsr Vatiché (Alex Röser) est un compositeur indépendant, producteur de musique et musicien de studio originaire de Leipzig, en Allemagne. Depuis ses études, il compose de la musique pour des pièces de théâtre et des films et a produit plusieurs albums pour des projets musicaux internationaux. En tant que musicien de studio, il a tourné avec différents groupes à travers l'Europe et les États-Unis. Jusqu'à présent, son travail l'a notamment conduit au Residenztheater de Munich, à l'Iceland Airwaves, au Moulin Rouge à Paris, à l'Oldenburgisches Staatstheater et au Broke L.A. Festival à Los Angeles.
- Ben Meerwein est un compositeur, artiste sonore et performeur originaire de Berlin. Ses œuvres explorent les approches performatives et la spatialité sonore à travers différents systèmes. Musicalement, il oscille entre musique électronique expérimentale et musique classique, noise et pop d’avant-garde. Il a bénéficié d’une formation classique en composition, piano et musique électroacoustique à la hmt de Leipzig et à la mdw de Vienne. Grâce à diverses collaborations, il a pu acquérir de l’expérience dans un large éventail de disciplines. Il a composé de la musique et réalisé des conceptions sonores pour le cinéma, le théâtre, des installations, des performances et des concerts, et a également créé ses propres performances et concepts musicaux
- Madeleine Leclair travaille depuis plus de trente ans à la valorisation du patrimoine musical et sonore dans les musées d’ethnographie. Elle est conservatrice du département d’ethnomusicologie au Musée d’ethnographie de Genève (MEG), où elle est également responsable des Archives internationales de musique populaire. Depuis 2021, elle développe une pratique artistique consistant à réveiller les collections de disques vinyles du Tout-Monde, qu’elle met en jeu lors de performances de montage sonore en direct.
