In a few words:
Written to introduce his opera Fidelio, the overture Leonore III is one of Beethoven’s most impressive works. Joshua Weilerstein will then honour Anna Clyne, one of the world’s most played contemporary composers. The Seamstress is a violin concerto in which soloist Diana Tishchenko – winner of the 2018 Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition – connects with the orchestra like a dressmaker. Written in the United States in 1940, Rachmaninov’s superb Symphonic Dances crowned an exciting program.
