Für seine zweite «Carte blanche»-Ausstellung hat das Musée d’art et d’histoire Jean-Hubert Martin, den berühmten Kurator von Ausstellungen, welche die Kunstszene seit mehr als 40 Jahren prägen, eingeladen, einen neuen Blick auf die Museumssammlung zu werfen.
Indem sich dieser eminente Kunsthistoriker und Museumsmann in die Bestände des MAH vertieft, nimmt er uns mit auf einen Rundgang. Anhand von mehr als 500 Werken aus allen künstlerischen und historischen Bereichen kann das Publikum unseren gemeinsamen Schatz – die faszinierende Reichhaltigkeit der Sammlung – in Augenschein nehmen, erleben und sich aneignen. Durch Spiel, Analogie- oder Kontrastwirkung treten allseits bekannte Hauptwerke des Museums einfach und unkompliziert in Dialog mit besonderen Objekten, die unserer Aufmerksamkeit entgangen sein könnten. Der Rundgang gibt uns das Vertrauen in unsere emotionale Urteilskraft zurück. Das Museum zeigt sich in neuem Licht und wird zum Schauplatz unserer Wünsche.

For its second open invitation exhibition, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (MAH) has called upon Jean-Hubert Martin, the renowned curator who has been influential in the world of art for more than four decades, to cast his eye on the Museum’s collection.
Diving into the MAH’s archives, this great art historian and museum figure takes us on an excursion. Via more than five hundred pieces on loan from every area of art and history, the public is encouraged to observe, feel and take in the shared treasures that are the fascinating diversity of the collection. Through play, disorientation and analogy, key and known pieces from the Museum come into simple and uninhibited conversation with unique objects that have at times escaped our attention. The journey restores our trust in our emotional strength.
A new light is cast on the Museum and it becomes the stage of our desires.

Pour sa seconde exposition carte blanche, le Musée d’art et d’histoire a convié Jean-Hubert Martin, célèbre auteur d’expositions qui a marqué le champ de l’art depuis plus de quatre décennies, à poser un oeil neuf sur sa collection.
En plongeant dans les fonds du MAH, ce grand historien d’art et homme de musée nous entraîne avec lui dans une promenade. Au travers de plus de 500 oeuvres empruntées à tous les domaines artistiques et historiques, le public est incité à observer, à ressentir et à s’approprier ce qui est notre trésor commun, à savoir cette fascinante diversité de la collection. Par jeu, basculement ou effet d’analogie, certaines oeuvres phares et connues du musée dialoguent d’une manière simple et décomplexée avec des objets singuliers ayant parfois échappé à notre attention. Le parcours nous redonne confiance en notre force émotionnelle. Le musée se dévoile sous un nouveau jour et devient le théâtre de nos désirs.
