Les Belles Sorties - The Abolition of Privileges - Lezennes
It was the night of August 4, 1789. Gathered at Versailles in the young National Assembly, in a state in deficit where the richest escape taxation, the deputies vote the abolition of privileges (nobility, clergy...), drawing a line on unjust laws inherited from the Middle Ages. This founding event is told by Bertrand Guillot in a funny and erudite book. Passionate about politics, the director Hugues Duchêne returns to those hours when everything changed. In the center of a quadrifrontal space, an actor-narrator plays a dozen characters who have changed the face of the country. At a time when our institutional system is running out, this history lesson helps us to understand the past in order to better consider the future.
