On Friday 9th from 6 p.m. La Piscine invites you to the opening of its new autumn season exhibitions:
- > Neither God nor master! Arts and anarchy from Courbet to Banksy
- > Denim Revolution
This autumn, La Piscine – Musée d'art et d'industrie André Diligent, presents through its programming two perspectives on possible dialogues between creation and society.
Synonymous with disorder in everyday language, anarchy became a political thought in the middle of the 19th century. By the place they reserve for individual freedom, anarchist ideas have seduced since their emergence in the 1840s, a number of artists – from Courbet to Banksy, through the actors of May 68 or even later the punks. The exhibition Neither God nor Master! Arts and Anarchy from Courbet to Banksy offers a glimpse into this little-known history, which resonates with highly topical political and social questions.
Heir to the canvases of Genoa and Nîmes, worn across the Atlantic as workwear and then around the world as a staple of everyday life, jeans sometimes also have a rebellious dimension. Proclaiming the identity of its wearer and blue page invested by the creators, Denim Revolution paints a history on the floor of the basin, combining industrial memory and contemporary fashion.
The exhibition "Neither God nor master! Arts et anarchie" benefits from the support and exceptional loans of the Musée d'Orsay, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Annonciade Museum in Saint-Tropez. It is designed and organized with the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology of Besançon – City of Besançon
The opening is free and open to all.
The speeches will be followed by a concert of the electro-rock group ACHAB

Le vendredi 9 ocotobre à partir de 18h La Piscine vous invite au vernissage des nouvelles expositions de sa saison d'automne :
Cet automne, La Piscine – Musée d’art et d’industrie André Diligent, présente à travers sa programmation deux regards sur les dialogues possibles entre création et société.
Synonyme de désordre dans le langage courant, l’anarchie devient au milieu du XIXe siècle une pensée politique à part entière. Par la place qu’elles réservent à la liberté individuelle, les idées anarchistes ont séduit dès leur émergence dans les années 1840, nombre d’artistes – de Courbet à Banksy, en passant par les acteurs de Mai 68 ou encore plus tard les punks. L’exposition Ni Dieu ni maître ! Arts et anarchie de Courbet à Banksy propose un aperçu de cette histoire méconnue, qui résonne avec des interrogations politiques et sociales d’une grande actualité.
Héritier des toiles de Gênes et de Nîmes, porté outre-Atlantique comme vêtement de travail puis dans le monde entier comme basique du vestiaire quotidien, le jean revêt parfois aussi une dimension contestataire. Clamant l’identité de son porteur et page bleue investie par les créateurs, Révolution denim en brosse l’histoire à l’étage du bassin, associant mémoire industrielle et mode contemporaine.
L’exposition « Ni Dieu ni maître ! Arts et anarchie » bénéficie du soutien et des prêts exceptionnels du musée d’Orsay, de la Bibliothèque Nationale de France et du musée de l’Annonciade de Saint-Tropez. Elle est conçue et organisée avec le musée des beaux-arts et d’archéologie de Besançon – Ville de Besançon
Le vernissage est gratuit et ouvert à tous.
Les prises de parole seront suivies d’un concert du groupe d’électro-rock ACHAB

Dit najaar presenteert La Piscine – André Diligent Museum of Art and Industry, via zijn programma twee perspectieven op de mogelijke dialogen tussen creatie en samenleving.
Synoniem voor wanorde in alledaagse taal, werd anarchie in het midden van de 19e eeuw een politieke gedachte op zich. Door de plaats die ze reserveren voor individuele vrijheid, verleidden anarchistische ideeën uit hun opkomst in de jaren 1840, veel kunstenaars – van Courbet tot Banksy, via de acteurs van mei 68 of zelfs latere punks. De tentoonstelling noch God noch meester! Kunst en anarchie van Courbet tot Banksy biedt een overzicht van deze weinig bekende geschiedenis, die resoneert met politieke en sociale vragen van grote relevantie.
Erfgenaam van de doeken van Genua en Nimes, gedragen over de Atlantische Oceaan als werkkleding en vervolgens over de hele wereld als basis van de dagelijkse garderobe, jeans hebben soms ook een protestdimensie. Révolution denim claimt de identiteit van de drager en de blauwe pagina die door de makers is geïnvesteerd en borstelt het verhaal op de vloer van het bekken, waarbij industriële herinnering en hedendaagse mode worden gecombineerd.
De tentoonstelling “God noch Meester! Kunst en anarchie" profiteert van de steun en uitzonderlijke leningen van het Musée d'Orsay, de Bibliothèque nationale de France en het Musée de l'Annonciade de Saint-Tropez. Het is ontworpen en georganiseerd met het Museum voor schone Kunsten en Archeologie van Besançon – Stad van Besançon
De vernissage is vrij en open voor iedereen.
De toespraken worden gevolgd door een concert van de electro-rock groep AHAB
