Villeneuve-sur-Lot hatte zwei Bruderschaften von Büßern, die Blauen ab 1611 und die Weißen ab 1657. Die Kapelle der Blauen Pönitenten, die sich früher in der Rue du Puits-Couleau befand, wurde zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts abgerissen. Die Kapelle der Weißen Pönitenten hingegen ist noch immer am linken Ufer des Bastide-Dorfes zu finden und bewahrt ein reiches religiöses Mobiliar, das für diese Gemeinde charakteristisch ist.
