Ein Feudalschloss ist eine ständige Baustelle. Im Laufe der Jahre haben die verschiedenen Besatzer jeweils die Festung von Saint-Maurice erweitert.
Die Nutzungen haben sich verändert und das Gebäude weiterentwickelt. Hier wurden Waffen und Ernten gelagert, Wein gereift und Zimmer für Mieter eingerichtet. Wir haben Truppen versammelt und gegen die Engländer und Burgunder stationiert, wir haben Belagerungen erlitten und Handelsrouten kontrolliert, wir haben Nachbarn als Geiseln gehalten und Erben verheiratet. All dies findet sich jetzt, oder auch nicht, im Stein.
Was man nicht mehr sieht, wurde umgebaut, abgerissen oder umgeleitet, aber es kann auch verdorben und verfallen sein. Die Herausforderung der antiken Fotografie wie auch der Archäologie besteht darin, zu untersuchen, was man aus all dem rekonstruieren kann. A feudal castle is a permanent construction site. Over the years, the various occupants each added to the fortress of Saint-Maurice.
Uses have changed and made buildings evolve. Here we stored weapons and harvests, aged wine and arranged rooms for tenants. We gathered and cantoned troops against the English and Burgundians, suffered sieges and controlled trade routes, held neighbors hostage and married heirs. All this is now, or not, found in stone.
What we no longer see has been altered, demolished or diverted, but it can also have withered, disintegrated. The challenge of ancient photography as well as archaeology is to investigate what we can reconstruct from all this. Come see where the investigations and renovations are at.

Un castello feudale è un cantiere permanente. Nel corso degli anni i diversi occupanti hanno aggiunto ciascuno alla fortezza di Saint-Maurice.
Gli usi sono cambiati e hanno fatto evolvere l'edilizia. Qui si hanno immagazzinato armi e raccolti, si fa invecchiare il vino e si sistemano stanze per gli inquilini. Si sono radunate e accampate truppe contro gli inglesi e i borgognoni, si sono assediati e controllati le rotte commerciali, si sono tenuti in ostaggio vicini e sposati eredi. Tutto questo si ritrova ora, o no, nella pietra.
Ciò che non si vede più è stato rifatto, demolito o dirottato, ma può anche essere deperito, essersi deteriorato. L'obiettivo della fotografia antica, come dell'archeologia, è quello di indagare su ciò che si può ricostruire da tutto questo. Un château féodal est un chantier permanent. Au fil des années les différents occupants ont chacun ajouté à la forteresse de Saint-Maurice.
Les usages ont changé et fait évoluer le bâti. Ici on a stocké des armes et des moissons, fait vieillir du vin et aménagé des chambres pour des locataires. On a rassemblé et cantonné des troupes contre les Anglais et Bourguignons, on a subi des sièges et controlé des routes commerciales, on a retenu en otage des voisins et marié des héritiers. Tout cela se retrouve maintenant, ou pas, dans la pierre.
Ce que l'on ne voit plus a été remanié, démoli ou détourné, mais cela peut également avoir dépéri, s'être délité. L'enjeu de la photographie ancienne comme de l'archéologie c'est d'enquêter sur ce qu'on peut reconstituer de tout cela. Venez voir où en sont les investigations et les rénovations.

Un castillo feudal es una obra permanente. A lo largo de los años, los diferentes ocupantes han añadido cada uno a la fortaleza de Saint-Maurice.
Los usos han cambiado y hecho evolucionar el edificio. Aquí se han almacenado armas y cosechas, se ha envejecido el vino y se han acondicionado habitaciones para los inquilinos. Se han reunido y acantonado tropas contra los ingleses y borgoñones, se han asediado y controlado rutas comerciales, se ha retenido como rehenes a vecinos y casado con herederos. Todo esto se encuentra ahora, o no, en la piedra.
Lo que ya no se ve ha sido remodelado, demolido o desviado, pero también puede haber perecido, haberse deteriorado. El objetivo de la fotografía antigua como de la arqueología es investigar lo que se puede reconstruir a partir de todo esto. Ven a ver dónde están las investigaciones y las renovaciones.
