Er wurde im Januar 1605 von Frau Acarie in Frankreich gegründet und ist der älteste noch aktive Carmel. Dort findet man das alte Bett der abgeleiteten Viosne zur Versorgung eines Teils der Innenstadt mit Wasser, ein Zeichen der mittelalterlichen Wassertechnik.
