Nicole Eisenman produziert seit mehr als 30 Jahren ein Werk voller Ironie und Politik, provokativ und manchmal grotesk. Seine Praxis ist inspiriert von seinem persönlichen Leben und durchdrungen von Motiven und Problemen unserer heutigen Welt, wie Identitätsfragen, soziale Konventionen oder Herrschaftsverhältnisse.
Der Künstler, der jede anekdotische Referenz verwischt, besichtigt die Kunstgeschichte und mischt Elemente der Populärkultur mit der Gegenkultur. Eisenman führt diese Übung der Vermischung virtuos durch und lässt neue bildliche und mentale Assoziationen entstehen, die unsere Sicht der Gegenwart so bereichern, wie sie unseren Blick auf die Vergangenheit komplizieren.
Mehr als siebzig Gemälde und Zeichnungen von Nicole Eisenman werden präsentiert und bieten einen Überblick über ihre Arbeit seit den 1990er Jahren. Im Hinblick auf dieses große Ensemble wurden fast ebenso viele Werke moderner Künstler des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts gesammelt; Darunter befinden sich Arbeiten von international renommierten Künstlern, aber auch von unbekannten Malern, die in ihrer künstlerischen Gemeinschaft in den Niederlanden, Deutschland oder der Schweiz eine wichtige Rolle gespielt haben.
_Nicole** Eisenman (1965 in Verdun,* Frankreich, lebt und arbeitet in New York) interessierte sich schon früh für Malerei und schloss 1987 an der Rhode Island School of Design ab. Der Künstler praktiziert verschiedene Medien wie Zeichnen, Malen oder Skulptur_** und _entwickelt** ein formales_** und ikonographisches Repertoire, das ebenso präzise wie persönlich ist. Nicole Eisenman zählt zu den bemerkenswertesten Künstlern der heutigen amerikanischen Szene und erhielt 2013 den Carnegie Award und 2015 das MacArthur-Stipendium, bevor sie 2018 Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Letters wurde.

Nicole Eisenman has been producing for more than thirty years a prolific work, openly ironic and political, with a provocative and sometimes grotesque character. His practice is inspired by his personal life and imbued with the motives and problems of our contemporary world, such as the question of identity, social conventions or relations of domination.
Evading any anecdotal reference, the artist revisits the history of art while mixing elements of popular culture and counter-culture. Eisenman performs this exercise of blending with virtuosity, bringing forth new pictorial and mental associations that enrich our vision of the present as much as they complicate our view of the past.
More than seventy paintings and drawings by Nicole Eisenman are presented, offering a panorama of her work since the 1990s. With regard to this large group, almost as many works of modern artists from the early 20th century have been collected; These include works by internationally renowned artists, but also by lesser-known painters who have played an important role in their artistic community in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.
**Nicole Eisenman (*1965 in Verdun, France, lives and works in New York) was passionate about painting at an early age and graduated in 1987 from the Rhode Island School of Design. The artist practises various mediums, such as drawing, painting or sculpture and develops a formal and iconographic repertoire as precise as personal.** Among the most outstanding artists on the American scene today, Nicole Eisenman received the Carnegie Prize in 2013 and the MacArthur Fellowship in 2015 before becoming a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2018.

Nicole Eisenman produce da più di trent'anni un'opera ricca, apertamente ironica e politica, dal carattere provocatorio e talvolta grottesco. La sua pratica è ispirata alla sua vita personale e impregnata dei motivi e delle problematiche del nostro mondo contemporaneo, come la questione dell'identità, le convenzioni sociali o i rapporti di dominio.
Abbandonando ogni riferimento aneddotico, l'artista rivisita la storia dell'arte mescolando elementi della cultura popolare e della controcultura. Eisenman realizza questo esercizio di meticciato con virtuosismo, facendo scaturire nuove associazioni pittoriche e mentali che arricchiscono la nostra visione del presente tanto quanto complicano il nostro sguardo sul passato.
Più di settanta dipinti e disegni di Nicole Eisenman sono presentati, offrendo una panoramica del suo lavoro dagli anni '90. Rispetto a questo vasto insieme, quasi altrettante opere di artisti moderni dell'inizio del XXI secolo sono state raccolte; Tra queste si annoverano le opere di artisti di fama internazionale ma anche di pittori sconosciuti che hanno svolto un ruolo importante all'interno della loro comunità artistica nei Paesi Bassi, in Germania o in Svizzera.
_Nicole Eisenman** (1965 a Verdun, Francia, vive e lavora a New York) si appassiona molto presto_* alla pittura e si laurea nel 1987 alla Rhode Island School of Design. L'artista pratica diversi mezzi, come il disegno, la pittura o la scultura e sviluppa un repertorio formale e iconografico tanto preciso quanto personale. Tra gli artisti più importanti dell'attuale scena americana, Nicole Eisenman ha ricevuto il premio Carnegie nel 2013 e la borsa di studio MacArthur nel 2015 prima di diventare membro dell'Accademia americana delle arti e delle lettere nel 2018.

Nicole Eisenman produit depuis plus de trente ans une œuvre foisonnante, ouvertement ironique et politique, au caractère provocateur et parfois grotesque. Sa pratique est inspirée de sa vie personnelle et imprégnée des motifs et problématiques de notre monde contemporain, telle la question de l’identité, les conventions sociales ou les rapports de domination.
Évacuant toute référence anecdotique, l’artiste revisite l’histoire de l’art tout en mêlant des éléments de la culture populaire et de la contre-culture. Eisenman réalise cet exercice de métissage avec virtuosité, faisant jaillir de nouvelles associations picturales et mentales qui enrichissent notre vision du présent autant qu’elles complexifient notre regard sur le passé.
Plus de soixante-dix toiles et dessins de Nicole Eisenman sont présentés, offrant un panorama sur son travail depuis les années 1990. En regard de ce large ensemble, presque autant d’œuvres d’artistes modernes du début du XXᵉ siècle ont été rassemblées ; on compte parmi elles les travaux d’artistes de renommée internationale mais également de peintres méconnu·es qui ont joué un rôle important au sein de leur communauté artistique aux Pays-Bas, en Allemagne ou en Suisse.
Nicole Eisenman (*1965 à Verdun en France, vit et travaille à New York) se passionne très tôt pour la peinture et obtient son diplôme en 1987 à la Rhode Island School of Design. L’artiste pratique différents médiums, tels le dessin, la peinture ou la sculpture et développe un répertoire formel et iconographique aussi précis que personnel.
Comptant parmi les artistes les plus remarquables de la scène américaine actuelle, Nicole Eisenman a reçu le prix Carnegie en 2013 et la bourse MacArthur en 2015 avant de devenir membre de l’Académie américaine des arts et des lettres en 2018.

Nicole Eisenman produce desde hace más de treinta años una obra abundante, abiertamente irónica y política, de carácter provocativo y a veces grotesco. Su práctica está inspirada en su vida personal e impregnada de los motivos y problemáticas de nuestro mundo contemporáneo, como la cuestión de la identidad, las convenciones sociales o las relaciones de dominación.
Evadiendo toda referencia anecdótica, el artista revisita la historia del arte mezclando elementos de la cultura popular y de la contracultura. Eisenman realiza este ejercicio de mestizaje con virtuosismo, haciendo brotar nuevas asociaciones pictóricas y mentales que enriquecen nuestra visión del presente tanto como complican nuestra mirada sobre el pasado.
Más de setenta lienzos y dibujos de Nicole Eisenman se presentan, ofreciendo un panorama de su trabajo desde la década de 1990. En relación con este amplio conjunto, se han reunido casi tantas obras de artistas modernos de principios del siglo XX; Entre ellas figuran obras de artistas de renombre internacional, pero también de pintores desconocidos que han desempeñado un papel importante en su comunidad artística en los Países Bajos, Alemania o Suiza.
