Die historische Stadt Lescar stammt aus der Antike. Im Mittelalter war sie ein wichtiges Bistum auf dem Weg nach Compostela (Via d'Arles). Derzeit beherbergt die Stadt in ihrer Zuflucht die Pilger, die zum Col du Somport und weiter nach Santiago de Compostela fahren.
