Eine musikalische Reise durch das Werk und Leben der englischen Schriftstellerin Aphra Behn aus dem 17. Jahrhundert
Begleitet von dem Musiker Dramane Dembele (Flûtes peules, n'gnôni) gibt die Schauspielerin Catherine Rétoré Texte zu hören und erzählt ein wenig über das bunte Leben von Aphra Behn: eine englische Dramaturgin und Romanautorin des späten 17. Jahrhunderts, Zu seiner Zeit weithin bekannt und berühmt, aber in Frankreich noch unbekannt.
Die «George Sand» von England, Spionin in den Niederlanden, Abenteurerin, Reisende, Gelehrte, begegnet den amerikanischen Ureinwohnern des Amazonas und erlebt einen Sklavenaufstand in Surinam. Als Modell der Freiheit und Feministin vor dem Brief, Kritikerin der arrangierten Ehe und der Sklaverei ist Aphra Behn eine der ersten Schriftstellerinnen, die von ihrer Feder lebt und sich in der Londoner Theaterszene durchsetzt. Ein Erfolg, der ihn zu Lebzeiten als «Hure und Dichterin» verspottet (‘Punk & Poetess') und an eine Frau erinnert, die sich auf der öffentlichen Bühne äußert, wurde auch als öffentliche Frau wahrgenommen und von Virginia Woolf als Pionierin gefeiert.

A musical journey through the work and the life of Aphra Behn, a 17th-century English writer
Accompanied by the musician Dramane Dembele (flutes peules, n'gnôni), the actress Catherine Rétoré gives to hear texts and tells a little about the colorful life of Aphra Behn: an English playwright and novelist of the late seventeenth century, prolixe and famous in its time, but still unknown in France.
Nicknamed the «George Sand» of England, spy in the Netherlands, adventurer, traveller, scientist, she meets the Amerindians of Amazonia and attends a revolt of slaves in Surinam. A model of freedom and a feminist before the letter, a critic of arranged marriage and slavery, Aphra Behn was one of the first writers to make a living out of her pen and make her mark on the London theatre scene. A success that, in her lifetime, brought her to be laughed at as a “whore and poet” (‘Punk & Poetess’), reminding her that a woman who expresses herself on the public stage was also perceived as a public woman, then celebrated by Virginia Woolf as a pioneer.

Accompagnata dal musicista Dramane Dembele (flauti peules, n'gnôni), l'attrice Catherine Rétoré dà voce ai testi e racconta un po' della vita colorata di Aphra Behn: una drammaturga e romanziera inglese della fine del XVII secolo, Prolissa e celebra a suo tempo, ma ancora sconosciuta in Francia.
Soprannominata la «George Sand» dell'Inghilterra, spia nei Paesi Bassi, avventuriera, viaggiatrice, scienziata, incontra i nativi dell'Amazzonia e assiste a una rivolta di schiavi nel Suriname. Modello di libertà e femminista prima della lettera, critica del matrimonio combinato e dello schiavismo, Aphra Behn è una delle prime scrittrici a vivere della sua penna e a imporsi sulla scena teatrale londinese. Un successo che, durante la sua vita, gli valse di essere derisa come «puttana e poetessa» (Punk & Poetess'), ricordando così che una donna che si esprime sulla scena pubblica era anche percepita come una donna pubblica, poi celebrata da Virginia Woolf come una pioniera.

Accompagnée par le musicien Dramane Dembele (flûtes peules, n’gnôni), la comédienne Catherine Rétoré donne à entendre des textes et raconte un peu de la vie haute en couleur d’Aphra Behn : une dramaturge et romancière anglaise de la fin du XVIIe siècle, prolixe et célèbre en son temps, mais encore méconnue en France.
Surnommée la « George Sand » de l’Angleterre, espionne aux Pays-Bas, aventurière, voyageuse, savante, elle rencontre les Amérindiens d’Amazonie et assiste à une révolte d’esclaves au Surinam. Modèle de liberté et féministe avant la lettre, critique du mariage arrangé et de l’esclavagisme, Aphra Behn est une des premières écrivaines à vivre de sa plume et à s’imposer sur la scène théâtrale londonienne. Un succès qui, de son vivant, lui vaut d’être moquée comme « pute et poétesse » (‘Punk & Poetess’), rappelant ainsi qu’une femme qui s’exprime sur la scène publique était aussi perçue comme une femme publique, puis célébrée par Virginia Woolf comme une pionnière.
