Die Kirche entstand auf den Überresten einer Kapelle des 19\. Jahrhunderts. Die Ausgrabungen nach seinem Brand im Jahr 1991 haben seine Geschichte seit der Zeit der Carolina offenbart - seine Überreste sind im steinernen Museum ausgestellt.
