Die Geschichte des EPSM beschränkt sich nicht nur auf die Entwicklung von Pflegetechniken, sondern ist auch Teil der Geschichte der Stadt Armenien. Im Jahr 1615 wurde in Armentières von der sogenannten "Bon-Fils"-Gemeinde ein Krankenhaus für Männer gegründet, das ursprünglich an der Ecke der Gassen Lille und der Kapuzinern gelegen war.
