«Heritage Performance»
Seit den 1970er Jahren bietet der multimediale Künstler, Komponist, Interpret, Solist und Vokalist Karl der Palästina (geb. Charles Martin 1947 in Brooklyn, New York) intensive und ritualistische Werke, Das widerspricht den Annahmen über die Schönheit und den vermeintlichen Sinn der Musik.
Im Rahmen der Tage des Kulturerbes im FRAC Alsace lädt uns Karl der Palästina ein, in seine klangliche und visuelle Welt einzutauchen. Es ist mehr als eine Aufführung, es ist eine echte Zeremonie, die der Künstler uns anbietet, begleitet von seinen göttlichen Plüschtieren und Schmatten*, die den Raum füllen werden.
*schmattes: Ein jiddischer Begriff, der sowohl ein Tuch, ein abgenutztes Kleidungsstück, das man zurücknehmen muss, als auch den Erschöpfungszustand eines Individuums bezeichnet.

Heritage Performance
Since the 1970s, the multi-media artist, composer-performer, soloist and vocalist Charlemagne Palestine (born Charles Martin in 1947 in Brooklyn, New York) offers intense and ritualistic creations, Contrary to assumptions about the supposed beauty and meaning of music.
As part of the Heritage Days at FRAC Alsace, Charlemagne Palestine invites us to dive into its sound and visual universe. More than a performance, it is a real ceremony that the artist offers us, accompanied by his divine plushes and schmattes* that will fill the space.
*schmattes: a Yiddish term that refers to a rag, a worn garment that must be taken back, or an individual’s state of fatigue.

Dal 1970, l'artista multi-media, compositore-interprete, solista e vocalista Charlemagne Palestine (nato Charles Martin nel 1947 a Brooklyn, New York) propone creazioni intense e ritualistiche, Contro i preconcetti sulla presunta bellezza e il significato della musica.
Nell'ambito delle Giornate del Patrimonio al FRAC Alsazia, Carlo Magno Palestina ci invita a immergerci nel suo universo sonoro e visivo. Più che una performance, è una vera e propria cerimonia che l'artista ci propone, accompagnato dai suoi divini peluche e schmattes* che riempiranno lo spazio.
*schmattes: termine yiddish che designa sia un panno, un indumento usurato che occorre riprendere o lo stato di stanchezza di un individuo.

Depuis les années 1970, l’artiste multi-média, compositeur-interprète, soliste et vocaliste Charlemagne Palestine (né Charles Martin en 1947 à Brooklyn, New York) propose des créations intenses et ritualistes, allant à l’encontre des préconceptions sur la beauté et le sens supposés de la musique.
Dans le cadre des Journées du Patrimoine au FRAC Alsace, Charlemagne Palestine nous invite à plonger dans son univers sonore et visuel. Plus qu’une performance, c’est une véritable cérémonie que nous propose l’artiste, accompagné de ses divines peluches et schmattes* qui rempliront l’espace.
*schmattes : terme yiddish désignant aussi bien un chiffon, un vêtement usé qu’il faut reprendre ou encore l’état de fatigue d’un individu.
