Im Tal der Rhone, etwa dreißig Kilometer östlich von Lyon, in der Gemeinde Saint-Romain-de-Jajalionas, befindet sich der Standort des Vernai, abseits vom Dorf, bewahrt die Überreste einer großen gallo-römischen Villa, in der ein Teil der Thermen restauriert wird, eine hydraulische Mühle, Ein Getreidespeicher und die Wohnung des Verwalters des Anwesens.
Eine erste Villa, die um 40 v. Chr. errichtet wurde, erstreckt sich am Rande eines sehr alten Sumpfes und zeigt bereits ein aus Rom importiertes Modell. Diese Einrichtung verwandelt sich von Beginn der christlichen Ära an in einen echten Palast, der sich über 13 Hektar erstreckt.

Located in the Rhone Valley, about thirty kilometers east of Lyon, in the town of Saint-Romain-de-jalionas, the site of the Vernai, away from the village, preserves the remains of a vast Gallo-Roman villa where are restored part of the baths, a hydraulic mill, a granary and the habitat of the estate manager.
Stretching along the edge of a marsh that had been used for a long time, a first villa erected around 40 B.C., already displays a model imported from Rome. From the beginning of the Christian era, this establishment was transformed into a palace covering 13 hectares.

Situato nella valle del Rodano, a una trentina di chilometri a est di Lione, nel comune di Saint-Romain-de-Lajalionas, il sito del Vernai, lontano dal villaggio, conserva i resti di una vasta villa gallo-romana dove sono restaurati una parte delle terme, un mulino idraulico, un granaio e l'abitazione del direttore della tenuta.
Situata ai margini di una palude molto anticamente sfruttata, una prima villa eretta intorno al 40 a.C., mostra già un modello importato da Roma. Questa struttura si trasformerà dall'inizio dell'era cristiana in un vero e proprio palazzo che si estende su 13 ettari.

Situé dans la vallée du Rhône, à une trentaine de kilomètres à l’Est de Lyon, sur la commune de Saint-Romain-de-Jalionas, le site du Vernai, à l’écart du village, conserve les vestiges d’une vaste villa gallo-romaine où sont restaurés une partie des thermes, un moulin hydraulique, un grenier à blé et l’habitat du régisseur du domaine.
S’étendant en bordure d’un marais très anciennement exploité, une première villa érigée aux alentours de 40 av J.C., affiche déjà un modèle importé de Rome. Cet établissement se transformera dès le début de l’ère chrétienne en un véritable palais s’étendant sur 13 hectares.
