Villa Formose Immersive - The France XR Prototyping Residency : Call for projects 08.04 > 07.05.2026
The France XR Prototyping Residency enables an artistic project leader living in Taiwan to come to Paris for a period of one month to develop the prototype of an immersive experience.

CENTQUATRE-PARIS partners with Kaohsiung Film Archive, the French Office in Taipei, the Taïwanese Ministry of Culture, the CNC and the Taïwanese Cultural Center à Paris to continue “Villa Formose Immersive” in 2026: an exceptional bilateral residency program for immersive creation between France and Taiwan.
The program consists of 2 calls for projects:
The France XR Prototyping Residency enables an artistic project leader living in Taiwan to come to Paris for a period of one month, depending on the project, to develop the prototype of an immersive experience.
The Taiwan XR Prototyping Residency enables two artistic project leaders living in France to travel to Taiwan for a period of one month, depending on the project, to develop the prototype of an immersive experience.
【Type of project 】
This call for applications is open to all immersive projects (VR360, VR interactive, augmented or mixed reality, installation including immersive technologies, hybrid live performance, XR games, immersive exhibitions, fulldome films, etc.) with international impact (potentials in fundraising and international distribution).
Nature of the France XR Prototyping
【Eligibility criteria for France XR Prototyping Residency】
This call for applications is open to any creator invested in the field of XR/immersive creation:
- aged 18 years and over
- Taiwanese nationality
- speaking English (and/or French)
- with at least a first professional experience in the XR/immersive field
【Residency award】
The laureate unit and creator will be provided with:
- one round-trip flight ticket Taiwan - Paris (economy class)
- a maximum of 30 days accommodation in Paris
- a workspace in Paris
- a tailored program of workshops, meetings, mentoring and networking sessions with the CENTQUATRE-PARIS team, the French professionals and the local ecosystem to support the laureate throughout the development of the project
- The provision of XR headsets as well as other equipment on site during residency
- a grant of 5 000€ (185 000 TWD) including but not limited to production fee
- a daily living allowance of 41.40 EUR/day (1 524 TWD/day) of the creator in residence, insurances and taxes. Other travels and private expenses are not covered.
- A technical support budget managed by the CENTQUARTRE-PARIS of 3 000€ (110 443 TWD) such as technical staff, dancers, musicians, specific technical requirements, or others.
Nature of the Taiwan XR Prototyping
【Eligibility criteria for Taiwan XR Prototyping Residency】
This call for applications is open to any creator invested in the field of XR/immersive creation:
- aged 18 years and over
- French or living in France with valid resident card or visa until March 2027
- speaking English (and/or Mandarin)
- with at least a first professional experience in the XR/immersive field
【Residency award】
The selected creator will be provided with:
- round-trip flight ticket France - Taiwan (economy class)
- one month accommodation in Kaohsiung
- a workspace at Pier-2 Art Center (Kaohsiung)
- mentoring sessions on XR production & distribution
- the provision of VR headsets as well as other equipment on site
- production fee: for the single-user standalone project, a grant of 8 000€ (296,000 NTD); and for the larger scale project, a grant of 13 000€ (500,000 NTD )(incl. tax)
- Two grants will be provided.
A budget of 1 750€ (64 320 NTD) per creator to cover daily expenses. Other travels and private expenses are not covered.
