Discover the rich history of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-André and its remarkable Romanesque architecture.
The abbey is installed in the 9th century on its current site thanks to the protection of the Carolingian emperor Louis the Pious. Despite its importance, it began to decline around the 13th century. Today, from the Benedictine monastery only a few elements remain, notably the abbey church classified as a historical monument which seems to have been erected between 1110 and 1120. This monument has remained purely Romanesque, it presents exceptional architectural elements from the 11th and 12th centuries.
