In den 1910er Jahren wurde Martigues zu einem Drehort. Im Jahr 2007 schenkte Prosper Gnidzaz, ein leidenschaftlicher Filmsammler, der Gemeinde seine Sammlung von 2.250 Spulen und 79 Projektionsgeräten, von denen die ältesten aus dem Jahr 1880 stammen. Die Stadt beschließt daraufhin, ihr einen der 7. Kunst gewidmeten Raum zu widmen. Der Kinoraum Prosper Gnidzaz bietet auf einer Fläche von 260 m2 die Möglichkeit, die technischen Entwicklungen des Kinos zu entdecken, von den ersten animierten Bildern bis hin zum 3D.

In 2007, Prosper Gnidzaz, an avid film collector, offered the municipality his collection of 2,250 reels and 79 projection devices, the oldest of which date from 1880. The city then decided to dedicate a space dedicated to the 7th art. The Espace Cinéma Prosper Gnidzaz offers, on a surface of 260 m2, to discover the technical evolutions of cinema, from first moving images to 3D.
