Zum ersten Mal in Frankreich wird die "RURAL"-Serie von Raymond Depardon bis Ende Oktober 2026 vollständig im Museum du Gévaudan ausgestellt. Sie umfasst 86 Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien, von denen die Hälfte dem ländlichen Leben in der Lozère gewidmet ist. Dieses Ensemble, das in den Jahren 1980-2000 realisiert wurde, erfasst die Erde und diejenigen, die sie bearbeiten, in einem sinnvollen Prozess.
Raymond Depardon (* 1942) ist ein französischer Fotograf und Regisseur. Seit 1978 ist er Mitglied der Fotoagentur Magnum und wurde 1991 mit dem Grand Prix national de la photographie ausgezeichnet. Er ist der Autor eines reichen Werkes, das von verschiedenen Inspirationen und mehreren Reisen genährt wird.
Durch eine Präsentation nach geografischen Gebieten und großen Themen der Serie, unterstützt von einer nüchternen Szenografie, wird die Ausstellung des Museums von Gévaudan einen wesentlichen Aspekt des lozerischen Territoriums und anderer benachbarter Departements (Haute-Loire, Ardèche, Hérault...) hervorheben. : das ländliche Alltagsleben mit seinen Akteuren, seinen Merkmalen, seinen Entwicklungen sowie die Art und Weise, wie es wahrgenommen, geteilt, verherrlicht werden kann, um zu reflektieren.
Diese Ausstellung steht im Zusammenhang mit zwei wichtigen Ereignissen des Jahres 2026: dem Internationalen Jahr der Agro-Pastoralität (von der UNESCO ausgerufen) und der Einweihung des Zweihundertjahrs der Fotografie.

For the first time in France, the "RURAL" series by Raymond Depardon is fully exhibited at the Musée du Gévaudan until the end of October 2026. It includes 86 black and white photographs, half of which are devoted to rural life in Lozère. This set, created in the years 1980-2000, captures the land and those who work it, in a sensitive approach.
Raymond Depardon, born in 1942, is a French photographer and director of international renown. A member of the photographic press agency Magnum since 1978, he was awarded the Grand Prix national de la photographie in 1991. He is the author of an abundant work nourished by varied inspirations and multiple journeys.
Through a presentation by geographical areas and main themes of the series, supported by a sober scenography, the exhibition at the Musée du Gévaudan will highlight an essential aspect of the Lozère territory and other neighboring departments (Haute-Loire, Ardèche, Hérault...) : rural daily life with its actors, its characteristics, its evolutions, as well as the way it can be perceived, shared, magnified, to provoke reflection.
This exhibition is linked to two major events of 2026: the International Year of Agro-pastoralism (decreed by UNESCO) and the inauguration of the Bicentenary of Photography.

Attraverso una presentazione per zone geografiche e grandi temi della serie, sostenuta da una scenografia sobria, l'esposizione del museo del Gévaudan permetterà di valorizzare un aspetto essenziale del territorio lozérien e di altri dipartimenti vicini (Haute-Loire, Ardèche, Hérault...) : la vita quotidiana rurale con i suoi attori, le sue caratteristiche, le sue evoluzioni, così come il modo in cui può essere percepita, condivisa, magnificata, per portare a riflessioni.
