Mit dieser Ausstellung Ich falte die Erde - I am folding the Land von Catherine Cattaruzza. Es geht darum, in Beirut die Wiederaufnahme einer vom Künstler im Rahmen der Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles 2022 geschaffenen fotografischen Installation vorzuschlagen.
In Ich falte die Erde - I am folding the land, Catherine Cattaruzza erforscht ihre Beziehung zu den Erschütterungen der Welt, mit dem Libanon als Epizentrum. Durch den Weg, der sie entlang der drei großen seismischen Verwerfungen dieses Landes führte, bietet sie eine Übersetzung ihrer Landschaften an. Seine Arbeit nährt sich von Territorium, Spuren, Identität und Erinnerung. Sie hinterfragt die Landschaft in ihren politischen und poetischen Dimensionen, über das, was sie uns über die Welt sagt, über die Transformation des physischen Territoriums und über das Denken, das das Sichtbare mit dem Unsichtbaren verbindet. Die ständige Instabilität des Libanon veranlasste den Künstler, seit 1992 mit veralteten Filmen zu arbeiten - einem Jahr, das nach dem Ende des 1975 begonnenen Krieges die Errichtung des politischen, wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Systems einleitete, das zum gegenwärtigen Zusammenbruch des Staates geführt hatte. Der Verfall dieser Filme hebt das Immaterielle, das Unkontrollierbare hervor, starke konzeptionelle Achsen, die am Wandel und an der Löschung dieser Landschaften beteiligt sind und uns ihren Zustand der Liminalität erzählen.

With this exhibition Je plie la terre - I am folding the Land by Catherine Cattaruzza, it is a matter of proposing to Beirut the resumption of a photographic installation created by the artist as part of the Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles in 2022.
In I fold the land - I am folding the land, Catherine Cattaruzza explores her relationship to the convulsions of the world, with Lebanon as its epicenter. It is through the journey that led her along the three major seismic faults of this country that she offers a translation of her landscapes. His work is nourished by territory, traces, identity and memory. She questions the landscape in its political and poetic dimensions, on what it tells us about the world, the transformation of physical territory, and the thought that binds the visible to the invisible. The permanent instability of Lebanon has led the artist to work with outdated films since 1992, a pivotal year which, at the end of the war started in 1975, saw the establishment of the political, economic and social system that led to the current collapse of the state. The expiry of these films highlights the intangible, the uncontrollable, strong conceptual axes that contribute to the tipping and erasure of these landscapes and tell us their state of liminality.

In Piego la terra - I am folding the land, Catherine Cattaruzza esplora la sua relazione con le convulsioni del mondo, con il Libano come epicentro. È attraverso il percorso che l'ha condotta lungo le tre principali faglie sismiche di questo paese che propone una traduzione dei suoi paesaggi. Il suo lavoro si nutre di territorio, traccia, identità e memoria. Interroga il paesaggio nelle sue dimensioni politiche e poetiche, su ciò che ci dice del mondo, della trasformazione del territorio fisico e del pensiero che collega il visibile all'invisibile. L'instabilità permanente del Libano ha portato l'artista a lavorare con pellicole scadute dal 1992, un anno cruciale che, alla fine della guerra iniziata nel 1975, vede la messa in atto del sistema politico, economico e sociale che ha portato all'attuale crollo dello Stato. La scadenza di queste pellicole mette in evidenza l'intangibile, l'incontrollabile, forti assi concettuali che partecipano al cambiamento e alla cancellazione di questi paesaggi e ci raccontano il loro stato di liminalità.

Dans Je plie la terre - I am folding the land, Catherine Cattaruzza explore sa relation aux convulsions du monde, avec le Liban comme épicentre. C'est au travers du parcours qui l'a menée le long des trois failles sismiques majeures de ce pays qu'elle propose une traduction de ses paysages. Son travail se nourrit de territoire, de trace, d’identité et de mémoire. Elle interroge le paysage dans ses dimensions politique et poétique, sur ce qu’il nous dit du monde, de la transformation du territoire physique, et de la pensée qui lie le visible à l’invisible. L’instabilité permanente du Liban a amené l'artiste à travailler avec des pellicules périmées depuis 1992, une année charnière qui, à la fin de la guerre démarrée en 1975, voit la mise en place du système politique, économique et social ayant conduit à l'effondrement actuel de l'État. La péremption de ces pellicules met en avant l’intangible, l’incontrôlable, axes conceptuels forts qui participent du basculement et de l’effacement de ces paysages et nous racontent leur état de liminalité.

En Yo doblo la tierra - I am folding the land, Catherine Cattaruzza explora su relación con las convulsiones del mundo, con el Líbano como epicentro. A través del recorrido que la ha llevado a lo largo de las tres fallas sísmicas principales de este país, propone una traducción de sus paisajes. Su trabajo se alimenta de territorio, de trazo, de identidad y de memoria. Interroga al paisaje en sus dimensiones política y poética, sobre lo que nos dice del mundo, de la transformación del territorio físico, y del pensamiento que vincula lo visible con lo invisible. La inestabilidad permanente del Líbano llevó al artista a trabajar con películas obsoletas desde 1992, un año decisivo que, al final de la guerra iniciada en 1975, vio el establecimiento del sistema político, económico y social que condujo al colapso actual del Estado. La caducidad de estas películas resalta lo intangible, lo incontrolable, ejes conceptuales fuertes que contribuyen al cambio y a la desaparición de estos paisajes y nos cuentan su estado de liminalidad.
