Marin Marais, figure emblématique de l'école de viole française, possède la grâce, l'élégance et l'esprit qui font tout le charme du goût français du 18ème siècle naissant. Très sensible au timbre et aux couleurs qu'offre la viole française à sept cordes, il crée un univers poétique à la mesure de l'instrument. Les pièces de caractère de ses deux derniers livres croquent portraits, paysages et petites scènes de genre à la manière d'un peintre, et restent un sommet inégalé du répertoire de viole sous la Régence.

Marino Pantano, figura emblemática de la escuela de viola francesa, posee la gracia, la elegancia y el espíritu que hacen todo el encanto del gusto francés del siglo 18 naciente. Muy sensible al sello y a los colores que ofrece la viola francesa a siete cuerdas, él crea un universo poético a la medida del instrumento. Las piezas(cuartos) de carácter de sus dos últimos libros ronzan(comen) retratos, paisajes y pequeñas escenas de género a manera de un pintor, y quedan una cumbre inigualada del repertorio de viola bajo la Regencia.
