A national museum with a collection of nearly 9,000 instruments and works of art, the Musée de la Musique is fully part of the daily life of the Philharmonie de Paris. It retains one of the most important sets of instruments in the world, both in terms of rarity and diversity of objects.
The Museum’s new route, completed in May 2025, unfolds a vast history of music in the world, from the end of the 16th century to the present day. The collection illustrates the musical “modernity” explored in Europe, from the Renaissance to contemporary and electronic experiences. It highlights the richness and vitality of the musical cultures of Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas.
