Patricia Geissler, a former curator and head of cryptogams at the Geneva Botanical Garden, was passionate about bryophytes and other mosses.

Patricia Geissler's thesis on the bryological vegetation of Alpine watercourses quickly established her excellence as a scientist and bryologist. As curator at the Geneva Botanical Garden, she was the custodian of two of the world's major bryological collections, the Hedwig-Schwägrichen herbarium and the Stephani herbarium.
Aside from her curatorial duties, she worked on her monograph of Marchesinia (Hepatics, Lejeuneaceae), as well as on the genus Grimmia.

La thèse de Patricia Geissler sur la végétation bryologique des cours d'eau alpins a très tôt établi son excellence en tant que scientifique et bryologue. Conservatrice aux CJBG, elle est la gardienne de deux collections bryologiques majeures au niveau mondial, l'herbier de Hedwig-Schwägrichen et celui de Stephani.
Lorsque ses tâches de conservatrice lui en laisse le temps, elle travaille sur sa monographie des Marchesinia (Hépatiques, Lejeuneaceae), ainsi que sur le genre Grimmia.
