Das Kulturerbe des Libanon fotografieren, 1864-1970: wenig bekannte Aufnahmen der Orientalischen Bibliothek von Beirut
In Partnerschaft mit dem Institut der arabischen Welt und der Orientalischen Bibliothek der Universität St. Joseph in Beirut ermöglicht diese im Alcazar präsentierte Ausstellung, den Libanon durch eine reiche Auswahl an fotografischen Aufnahmen und antiken Werken (wieder) zu entdecken. Die aus den Sammlungen von Beirut stammenden Fotografien zeigen Momente des Lebens, Denkmäler oder Landschaften und schaffen so ein dauerhaftes Zeugnis für fragile Kulturgüter, die manchmal verschwunden sind, oft in Gefahr sind und immer noch bedroht sind. Die gezeichneten oder gedruckten Dokumente, die in den seltenen und wertvollen Beständen der Stadt Marseille aufbewahrt werden, sind Teil desselben Willens, den Reichtum des Libanon zu dokumentieren. Diese Ausstellung ist somit ein neuartiger Dialog zwischen den Sammlungen zweier Patrimonialbibliotheken jenseits des Mittelmeers.

Photographing the heritage of Lebanon, 1864-1970: unknown pictures from the Oriental Library in Beirut
In partnership with the Arab World Institute and the Oriental Library of Saint Joseph’s University in Beirut, this exhibition presented at the Alcazar allows to (re)discover Lebanon through a rich selection of photographic shots and ancient works. The photographs, from the Beirut collections, capture moments of life, monuments or landscapes, thus creating a lasting testimony to fragile heritage, sometimes lost, often in danger, always in danger. The drawn or printed documents, preserved in the rare and precious funds of the city of Marseille, contribute to this same desire to keep track of the riches of Lebanon. This exhibition is therefore an unprecedented dialogue between the collections of two heritage libraries across the Mediterranean.
Opening on May 21 at 5:30 pm in the presence of the curators who will offer a guided tour of the exhibition.

Fotografare il patrimonio del Libano, 1864-1970: scatti poco conosciuti della Biblioteca Orientale di Beirut
In collaborazione con l'Institut du monde arabe e la Biblioteca orientale dell'Università Saint-Joseph di Beirut, questa esposizione presentata all'Alcazar permette di (ri)scoprire il Libano attraverso una ricca selezione di scatti fotografici e di opere antiche. Le fotografie, provenienti dalle collezioni di Beirut, fissano momenti della vita, monumenti o paesaggi, creando così una testimonianza duratura di patrimoni fragili, a volte scomparsi, spesso in pericolo, sempre in pericolo. I documenti disegnati o stampati, conservati nei rari e preziosi fondi della città di Marsiglia, partecipano a questa stessa volontà di tenere traccia delle ricchezze del Libano. Questa mostra è quindi un dialogo inedito tra le collezioni di due biblioteche storiche oltre il Mediterraneo.
Inaugurazione il 21 maggio alle 17:30 in presenza dei curatori che proporranno una visita commentata della mostra.

En partenariat avec l'Institut du monde arabe et la Bibliothèque orientale de l’université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, cette exposition présentée à l'Alcazar permet de (re)découvrir le Liban au travers d'une riche sélection de clichés photographiques et d'ouvrages anciens. Les photographies, issues des collections beyrouthines, fixent des moments de vie, des monuments ou des paysages, créant ainsi un témoignage durable de patrimoines fragiles, parfois disparus, souvent en péril, toujours en danger. Les documents dessinés ou imprimés, conservés dans les fonds rares et précieux de la ville de Marseille, participent de cette même volonté de garder trace des richesses du Liban. Cette exposition est donc un dialogue inédit entre les collections de deux bibliothèques patrimoniales par delà la Méditerranée.

En colaboración con el Instituto del Mundo Árabe y la Biblioteca Oriental de la Universidad Saint-Joseph de Beirut, esta exposición presentada en el Alcázar permite (re)descubrir el Líbano a través de una rica selección de fotografías y obras antiguas. Las fotografías, procedentes de las colecciones de Beirut, fijan momentos de vida, monumentos o paisajes, creando así un testimonio duradero de patrimonios frágiles, a veces desaparecidos, a menudo en peligro, siempre en peligro. Los documentos dibujados o impresos, conservados en los escasos y preciosos fondos de la ciudad de Marsella, participan de esta misma voluntad de seguir las riquezas del Líbano. Esta exposición es pues un diálogo inédito entre las colecciones de dos bibliotecas patrimoniales al otro lado del Mediterráneo.
Inauguración el 21 de mayo a las 17:30 en presencia de los comisarios de exposición que propondrán una visita comentada de la exposición.
