About the location

Château de Brouthières
52230 Brouthières
  • Haute-Marne
  • Grand Est
The castle of Brouthières and its dovecote, both listed among the Historical Monuments, were built in the middle of the eighteenth century by the family of Simony, originally from Siena in Italy. The castle, of human size, was built in the classical style according to a rectangular plan. The facades, free of decoration, are very harmonious by the balance of fullness and emptiness. The park, on the village side, was transformed in the nineteenth century into an English style park and gives the impression of a natural rural area, without intervention of the hand of man. On the wood side, a garden known as the “French garden” with symmetrical flower beds lined with boxwood hedges remains. The dovecote, privilege of the nobility and testimony of the wealth of the owner, also dates back to the eighteenth century. It was recently restored. The Brouthières castle has belonged to the same family for nearly three centuries!
