Created in 1746, the public garden is a green space of 10.8 hectares located in the center of the current city. Designed by the landscape architect Ange Jacques Gabriel, it is the first garden in France designed since its creation for its vocation of opening to the public. His first face is "French" like Le Nôtre, the famous Versailles gardener. The Public Garden is home to about thirty remarkable plant species and consists of different significant elements such as its original wrought iron gate classified as a Historical Monument preserved between Ducau Street and Longchamp Square and on the Champ-Champ Squarede-Mars, its large basin built in 1856 in the form of a serpentine river with an area of one hectare, three contemporary bridges of the wrought iron basin.
