The Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier, the oldest in France, has been a place dedicated to teaching, mainly for medical and pharmacy students, as well as research since its creation. It is now more widely open to the general public and pedagogy.
Come and discover its history and the richness of its collections with in particular its school of systematics.

The Jardin des plantes of Montpellier is the most old(former) royal garden to have reached us. Created under Henry IV (1593) by Richer de Belleval, doctor and outstanding botanist, he served as model in all botanical gardens of France. Boissier of Wild builds the first conservatories and Broussonnet there create one there orangery in 1804\. Besides its initial, scientific and pedagogic vocation, and its patrimonial dimension(size), this garden presents more than 2 000 open-air plant, cultivated sorts(species) on 4,6 hectares, and 600 m ² in conservatory today. Collection of cystes, curative, naturalized, succulent, trees remarkable for their size or for their curiosity and their botanical interest. Entomological faun(fauna,crowd).

close to the walk of Peyrou by the boulevard Henry-IV. Take in the car, parking lot Pitot. Streetcar: line 1 or 4, stop(ruling) Place(Square) Albert 1st. Buses, lines n°6, 7 or 16, stop(ruling) Peyrou. Parking lot nearby, accepted animals.
