The Extraordinary Garden was built in a former abandoned granite quarry, the Misery quarry in Chantenay, whose cliffs are 25 metres high and offer a beautiful view of the Loire. From the top of the latter, an impressive waterfall emanates from which emanates a light mist assuring tree ferns, banana trees, papyrus, lotus and other gunneras a life-saving hygrometry. The establishment of these exotic species was possible thanks to the proximity of the south-facing cliffs that protect from cold winds and restore the night, the heat stored during the day thus ensuring a temperature 4°C higher than the surrounding area. It is the desire to try to recreate the magical universe of the Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne whose birthplace is located very close by that guided the choice of these luxuriant plants.
