The gardens of the Carmel, created originally by the Brothers Capuchin friars(Capuchins), were reorganized during the XIXth and XXth centuries by the Carmelites who developed in particular food-producing gardens (kitchen garden and orchards) there as well as the production of flowers. The city entrtient since 1999 these gardens as well as the buildings which it purchased from the sisters.
[STOP_TRANSLATION]Le jardin d'Emonville a été créé au XIXème siècle par la famille Foucques d'Emonville qui habita la propriété jusqu'en 1880\. Différents membres de cette illustre famille abbevilloise façonnèrent au fur et à mesure le terrain pour qu'il devienne un jardin d'agrément au milieu duquel Arthur d'Emonville fit bâtir son hôtel particulier. La ville d'Abbeville acheta, au décès de M. d'Emonville, l'ensemble immobilier et paysager pour en faire un jardin public et y installer le musée d'Abbeville et du Ponthieu au sein de l'hôtel particulier. le jardin anglo-chinois est depuis ouvert au public qui peut y admirer entre autres un arboretum remarquable et des massifs de mosaïculture. Ce jardin a été récemment labellisé "jardin remarquable" en 2013 par le Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication.
