The Renaissance of Rietavas Park: a space for the five senses
On Saturday, June 1st, the Museum of Cultural History of the Dukes Oginski of Rietavas invites for the seventh time lovers of historical parks and the general public to participate in the event of the international project Rendez-vous aux jardins. The educational meeting «The Renaissance of Rietavas Park: a space for the five senses» will begin at 10 am in the courtyard of the museum (L. Ivinskio street, 4, Rietavas). From here we will invite our guests to a meaningful walk along the paths of the «Gardener’s Route of Rietavas Park». We will know the flower gardens of azaleas and rhododendrons installed last fall, we will admire the romantic views of the edge of the hill of Love, we will enjoy the aroma of peonies that bloomed in the intersection of the Four Avenues, accompanied by birdsong, we will walk the impressive avenues of the Oginski dukes walks to listen to the murmur of the rapids of the river Jūra. During the walk, we will pay attention to the uncut areas of the meadows and ponds of the park, which have been preserved for natural flowering, and we will present new ideas and perspectives for revitalizing the park. To say goodbye, as in previous years, we will enjoy fragrant herbal teas from the park and other delicacies on the terrace of the old verandas. In the evening at 5.30 pm, we will invite those who wish to learn more about the cultural heritage of Rietavas and at the same time about the history of the park, in the parterre of the old palace. It will be possible to join the travelers of the travel agency «Kiveda» for the guided tour.
