Presqu'une île exhibition - guided tour
Winner of the call for expressions of interest, Mondes Nouveaux, launched by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Conservatoire du Littoral, Jean-Marc BULLET invites you to discover his exhibition Presqu'une île à l'îlet du Morne Cabri au Lamentin. The exhibition closes on Saturday, June 3, 2023 on a koudmen, inspired by the traditional Lasotè. Guided tours planned throughout the exhibition. Almost an island offers to approach the mangrove through a poetic sensory experience. The designer deploys a series of «capsules de sens» made in collaboration with Victor Anicet (ceramist), Martine Baker (ceramist), Hervé Beuze (visual artist), Miguelle Colibeau (ceramist), Rachana Nossin (nose-designer perfume), Fabienne Pélage (sound artist), Michel Pétris (metal sculptor) and the Lespri Lasotè association.
The project is deployed on a part of the sports course arranged on the edge of the mangrove of the island of morne-cabri. Appreciated for its biodiversity and its accessibility, Morne-Cabri, although frequented by walkers and sportsmen, is affected by many environmental nuisances that damage its ecosystem: climate pressure, decline of the mangrove, crumbling of the banks, human activities and many others. By this project the artist also intends to raise awareness and draw attention to the impact of our activities on this natural environment that must be preserved.
The exhibition is designed as a multi-sensory journey that invites visitors to approach the territory by bringing together the five senses of the human being: sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch. These «capsules of meaning» implanted in the mangrove contribute to transmit know-how, create social connection and interactions between the natural environment and visitors.
