From its entrance to its top floor and the point of view it offers on the great landscape of Marseille, the building of the Mediterranean Institute of the City and Territories reveals its concrete architecture and opens onto the city. Its guided tours dedicated to the school public participate in the awakening of schoolchildren to architecture.

About the location

  • Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Institut Méditerranéen de la Ville et des Territoires (IMVT) opened its doors in September 2023 at the Porte d'Aix, near the Saint-Charles train station and its university campus. Stemming from the common will of three schools: the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Marseille (ENSA-M), the Institut d'Urbanisme et d'Aménagement Régional d'Aix-Marseille (IUAR) and the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage Versailles-Marseille (ENSP), the IMVT is structured around shared objectives. The building was designed and imagined by a project manager bringing together several architectural firms (NP2F Architectes, Marion Bernard, Point Suprême, Odile Seyler/ Jacques Lucan) and landscapers (Atelier Roberta), advocating an architecture opening wide to the city to receive all the echoes. Within a bioclimatic building of nearly 15,000 m2, the IMVT is equipped with training, experimentation and research spaces dedicated to the three schools as well as common and shared spaces.
