Socrates, by the force of his reasoning, by his permanent quest for meaning and truth, by his high moral standards, by his serenity in the face of death, was able to definitively mark the history of Western thought.
At the age of seventy, in 399 BCE, he was summoned to court in Athens. He is accused of not believing in the gods of the city and of corrupting the youth. Calmly, he refutes the reproaches made to him. His speech is both a life lesson and a philosophical testament.
A compass in a world lacking stable points of reference, Plato's Apology of Socrates has spanned the centuries to guide us towards a free, courageous, honest, happy and profound existence.

Socrate, par la force de ses raisonnements, par sa quête permanente de sens et de vérité, par sa haute exigence morale, par sa sérénité face à la mort, a su marquer de manière définitive l’histoire de la pensée occidentale.
À l’âge de soixante-dix ans, en 399 avant notre ère, il est convoqué au tribunal d’Athènes. On l’accuse de ne pas croire aux dieux de la cité et de corrompre la jeunesse.
Posément, il réfute les reproches qu’on lui fait. Son discours s’apparente à la fois à une leçon de vie et à un testament philosophique.
Boussole dans un monde en manque de repères stables, l’Apologie de Socrate de Platon a traversé les siècles pour nous guider vers une existence libre, courageuse, intègre, heureuse et profonde.
