Men have lived on the soil of present-day Normandy for several hundred thousand years. This very long history is punctuated by a succession of events - migratory phenomena, wars, technological revolutions... - which gradually forged the Norman identity. Drawing on exceptional collections, the Museum of Normandy traces the stages of the historical evolution of Normandy. Periodically integrating the most recent archaeological discoveries in its journey, the museum presents a panorama of the life of men and women from the distant Palaeolithic to the installation of the Vikings in the lower Seine Valley (10th century). Weapons, jewels, objects of daily life - everything that the earth has delivered from this history - are found in the archaeological rooms, illustrated by maps, models and historical information intended to guide the visitor through long and poorly known periods.
