Returning to the OSR podium, Jonathan Nott conducts the Swiss premiere of Sonnenring, Richard Dubugnon’s Violin Concerto. Written for Janine Jansen, one of the leading violin virtuosos of her generation, the concerto draws inspiration from the richly imaginative world of the self-taught Swiss artist Adolf Wölfli, where drawings, colours, symbols and a distinctive musical notation combine to create a complex and utopian universe.
In the second half, Mahler’s monumental yet rarely performed Symphony N° 7 – a composer particularly close to Jonathan Nott’s heart – unfolds through striking contrasts of light and shadow, drawing us into the mysteries of the night.
A programme in which contemporary creation and the great symphonic repertoire come together in a shared exploration of imagination and emotion.

Pour son retour à la tête de l’OSR, Jonathan Nott présente, en création suisse, Sonnenring, le Concerto pour violon de Richard Dubugnon. Composé pour la violoniste Janine Jansen, l’une des plus grandes virtuoses de sa génération, ce concerto puise son inspiration dans l’univers foisonnant d’Adolf Wölfli, artiste suisse autodidacte, où dessins, couleurs, symboles et une singulière écriture musicale se mêlent dans un imaginaire complexe et utopique.
En seconde partie, la monumentale, mais rarement jouée, Symphonie N° 7 de Mahler, compositeur particulièrement cher à Jonathan Nott, joue sur les contrastes d’ombre et de lumière et nous entraîne dans les mystères de la nuit.
Un programme où création contemporaine et grand répertoire se répondent dans une même quête d’imaginaire et d’émotions.
