Avenue Victor Hugo, 12000 Rodez, France
The museum houses the most important collection in the world of works by the painter and engraver Pierre Soulages (1919-2022), born in Rodez: early works, paintings on canvas, paintings on paper, including precious walnut brous, all prints, the bronzes, the Sèvres vase and the preparatory work for the stained glass windows of Conques. In 2020 and then in 2023, the museum was enriched by significant donations: it now offers a panorama from 1934, first figurative works, until the last work painted by the artist on May 15, 2022\. The museum is also equipped with a vast temporary exhibition room designed to host events of international and national scope. Designed and conceived by the Catalan architects RCR Arquitectes (Pritzker Prize 2017), resolutely of its time, the building spreads over more than 6,000m 2.
