Napoleonic Historical Reconstruction
The 2024 edition of the European Night of Museums at the Massey Museum will be placed under a double historical sponsorship.
On the one hand, that of the Mountain Hunter Battalions of the Pyrenees who from 1808 to 1813, then during the Hundred Days of 1815, protected our borders with Spain from Hendaye to Collioure.
On the other hand, that of Baron Dominique-Jean Larrey, this bigourdan born in Beaudéan in the Hautes-Pyrénées in 1766, surgeon of legend of the armies of the Revolution and the Empire, inventor of the flying ambulances. The legacy of his work at the service of the Fatherland and Humanity is still alive.
From 19:00 to midnight, you will discover around the replica of an ambulance team of the Imperial Guard, the bivouac in tents of a dozen passionate volunteers costumed and equipped with soldiers of the Grande Armée. Go and meet them! Through the glorious and unhappy memories of their campaigns, they will make you relive the great moments of the Napoleonic epic from Italy to Egypt, then from Spain to Russia, which helped to found our Modern Europe.
