Opened to the public in October 1994, the Musée de l'Ardenne, Museum of Archaeology of Art and History, has taken the name of the museum turned to popular arts and traditions inaugurated in 1959 in the presence of George-Henri Rivière, on the ground floor and first floor of the Vieux Moulin, Today, it is entirely devoted to the Arthur Rimbaud Museum. The new Musée de l'Ardenne, located partly in one of the pavilions of the Place Ducale, presents the city’s heritage from a historical point of view thanks to two plans-reliefs presenting Mézières in 1614 and Charleville in 1637 (date of the death of Charles de Gonzague to which the portrait made by Du Monstier echoes). Many ancient iconographic documents are gathered, such as the ideal plan of Mérian, presenting the architectural program of the "prince architect", the foundation plate of the Ducal Palace, the ancient apothecary of the Hotel de Dieu of Saint Louis, the various testimonies attesting to the artisanal and proto-industrial vit
