PLAYGROUND
PLAYGROUND brings together, in two interconnected rooms covering 250 m2, a contemporary collection of freely accessible artists’ games and an education space dedicated to outreach activities. All year long, an activity program led by experienced facilitators, free and accessible to all, will offer playful encounters with art.
A collection of games created by artists and designed to be played by all ages forms the core of this space. This initiative aims to offer an artistic experience through sensory exploration. The first instalment, which will run for a year, will propose seven artists’ games to experiment by artists Rasheed Araeen, Vidya Gastaldon, Stéphanie Probst, Neide Sá, Denis Savary, Alexia Turlin, and Galaxia Wang.
PLAYGROUND acts as a bridge between the exhibitions and the audiences of the MAMCO, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, and the Centre de la photographie Genève. It also serves as a space for their respective education programs, designed in parallel with the exhibitions. Both educational and fun, these moments will foster creation, sharing and learning, and enrich and nurture the outreach programs of the Bâtiment d’Art Contemporain (BAC).
PLAYGROUND is part of a series of projects designed to prefigure how the BAC will function after its renovation, scheduled for 2025–2027. This new exhibition space, located on the ground floor of the building, is a joint project of the MAMCO, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, and the Centre de la photographie Genève.
PLAYGROUND is opened every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (11 am - 6 pm).
Fecilitators would be glad to welcome you and help you to discover the games.
