Le Kino-Ciné offers you an event screening around Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, the new film by Claude Schmitz (Belgium/France, 1H26 min), presented at the International Festival of Rotterdam and carried by a duo as unexpected as they are endearing.
Here, everything begins as a formality: two inspectors transferred to the closet in Alsace are responsible for a simple investigation—the disappearance of a ring. Except that the case goes awry very quickly... and what was supposed to be a small police routine becomes an investigation full of detours, encounters, and strangeness, in a city with singular charm.
Between buddy-movie, humor and melancholy, the film plays with codes (fixed shots, "clear line", a nod to the Jewels of the Castafiore) and transforms the territory into a real character.
The big plus: Claude Schmitz will be present to discuss with us after the screening. A great opportunity to dive into the backstage of the film, its relationship with territory, play and investigation.

Le Kino-Ciné vous propose une séance événement autour de Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, le nouveau film de Claude Schmitz (Belgique/France, 1H26 min), présenté au Festival international de Rotterdam et porté par un duo aussi inattendu qu’attachant.
Ici, tout commence comme une formalité : deux inspecteurs mutés “au placard” en Alsace sont chargés d’une enquête simple — la disparition d’une bague. Sauf que l’affaire se dérègle très vite… et ce qui devait être une petite routine policière devient une enquête pleine de détours, de rencontres et d’étrangeté, dans une ville au charme singulier.
Entre buddy-movie, humour et mélancolie, le film joue avec les codes (plans fixes, “ligne claire”, clin d’œil aux Bijoux de la Castafiore) et transforme le territoire en véritable personnage.
Le gros plus : Claude Schmitz sera présent pour échanger avec nous après la projection. Une belle occasion de plonger dans les coulisses du film, son rapport au territoire, au jeu et à l’enquête.

Le Kino-Ciné biedt u een vertoning van evenementen rond Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, de nieuwe film van Claude Schmitz (België/Frankrijk, 1u26 min), gepresenteerd op het Internationale Festival van Rotterdam en gedragen door een duo net zo onverwacht als vermakelijk.
Hier begint alles als een formaliteit: Twee inspecteurs die naar de kast in de Elzas worden overgebracht, zijn verantwoordelijk voor een eenvoudig onderzoek: De verdwijning van een ring. Behalve dat de zaak heel snel misgaat... en wat een kleine politieroutine moest zijn, wordt een onderzoek vol omwegen, ontmoetingen en vreemdelingen, in een stad met bijzondere charme.
Tussen buddy-film, humor en melancholie, de film speelt met codes (vaste schoten, "heldere lijn", een knipoog naar de juwelen van de Castafiore) en transformeert het gebied in een echt karakter.
Het grote pluspunt: Claude Schmitz zal aanwezig zijn om met ons te bespreken na de vertoning. Een geweldige kans om in de backstage van de film te duiken, de relatie met territorium, spel en onderzoek.
