Unfairly forgotten for more than a century and a half, composer Louise Farrenc finds the favor of concert halls to our delight. First woman in history appointed piano teacher at the Paris Conservatory. She achieved a remarkable career as an educator and composer. His third and final symphony is part of the German symphonic tradition. A tribute to the Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven masters she admired so much. Commissioned by the Kronos Quartet from contemporary American composer and guitarist Bryce Dessner, Aheym (meaning «back home» in Hebrew) will be given in an expanded version for string ensemble. Injustement oubliée pendant plus d’un siècle et demi, la compositrice Louise Farrenc retrouve pour notre plus grand bonheur les faveurs des salles de concerts. Première femme de l’Histoire nommée professeur de piano au Conservatoire de Paris. Elle réussit une carrière remarquée de pédagogue et de compositrice. Sa troisième et dernière symphonie s’inscrit dans la tradition symphonique germanique. Un hommage aux Maîtres Haydn, Mozart et Beethoven qu’elle admirait tant. Commandée par le Kronos Quartet au compositeur et guitariste américain de notre temps Bryce Dessner, Aheym (qui signifie « retour à la maison » en hébreux) sera donnée dans une version élargie pour ensemble à cordes. Cette pièce influencée par le courant « répétitif américain » fascine par l’énergie rythmique qu’elle dégage.
Enfin, qui n’a jamais entendu le thème principal de La ‘Quarantième’ de Mozart ? Cette célébrissime mélodie entêtante nous ferait presque oublier le reste de la symphonie à l’architecture parfaite, à la tension dramatique intense, presque violente par endroit, annonçant déjà le Romantisme. L’œuvre d’un artiste visionnaire au sommet de son art!

Ten onrechte vergeten voor meer dan anderhalve eeuw, vindt componist Louise Farrenc de gunst van concertzalen tot onze vreugde. Eerste vrouw in de geschiedenis benoemd tot pianoleraar aan het Parijse Conservatorium. Ze behaalde een opmerkelijke carrière als educator en componist. Zijn derde en laatste symfonie maakt deel uit van de Duitse symfonische traditie. Een eerbetoon aan de meesters van Haydn, Mozart en Beethoven die ze zo bewonderde. In opdracht van het Kronos Quartet van de hedendaagse Amerikaanse componist en gitarist Bryce Dessner, zal Aheym (wat betekent «back home» in het Hebreeuws) in een uitgebreide versie voor strijkenensemble worden gegeven.
